Course Overview:

This awareness-level, asynchronous web-based training will provide participants with a general overview of climate change and how it relates to emergency management. The course will review the root causes of climate change and will discuss the impacts of climate change on communities. Additionally, risk communications around climate change will be reviewed.

Scope:

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to successfully complete post-test questions based on the following learning objectives:

  1. Describe the scientific phenomenon of climate change, including its root causes and current risk factors.
  2. Identify ways to assess credible science for supporting disaster management in vulnerable communities.
  3. Describe risk communication methods such as storytelling to engage with community members.
